Abstract
The research examined the role of mass media in creating awareness on hiv/aids among youth. Findings have shown that mass media have the power to influence the feelings and attitude of people while it also help in solving social problems and challenges through educative, enlightenment and informative programmes and news coverage One can deduce from the findings that mass media play a crucial role in creating awareness on issue of public concern which awareness on HIV/AIDS is one. It is of note that ever since the report of HIV/AIDS broke out, mass media have continued to educate public about its causes, effects, symptoms, how to contact it and various measures to prevent its spread while efforts were also put in place in reducing the level of stigmatisation among the people. It is also recommended that National and International Health organisation should do more awareness in a local language and local talent Drug that can assist the AIDS victims to be made available at a free price while the relatives of the victims should be assisted. In carrying out this research, the researchers adopted survey method coupled with questionnaires administered to the selected respondents in Iwo local government area of the State of Osun.
