1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The study is basically to evaluate the level of comparison of Journalism education in Nigeria between the Polytechnics and Universities and to proffer solution to the problem of Journalism education in Nigeria.
1.2 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The significant of this research work is to know the level of comparison of Journalism education in Nigeria between polytechnics and universities.
1.3 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This project has been designed and based on comparison of Journalism education in Nigeria between the Polytechnics and Universities.
The scopes of this project concentrate on Osun State Polytechnic Iree and Lagos State University as case study to authenticate the research topic Comparison of Journalism Education in Nigeria between the Polytechnics and Universities.
1.4 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The focus of this research work is to examine the comparison of Journalism education in Nigeria between polytechnics and universities.
The case study seeks to find out the attitude and opinions of students in Polytechnics and Universities about the research work.
1.5 RESEARCH QUESTION
- To what extent must Journalists have Journalism training before practicing Journalism?
- To what extent do Mass Communication graduates from Polytechnics meet the requirements of Journalism in Nigeria?
- To what extent is disparity between the Polytechnic and universities affect the training of Mass Communication students?
- To what extent is the relevance in the advancement in technology to the training of mass communication?
- To what extent dose mass communication graduates from Universities better than graduates in polytechnics?
1.6 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
The research on this topic has been subjected to series of setback and limitation.
Time Constraints: This is so because the duration for the research work is short.
Financial constraint: The researcher was largely limited due to the little finance available to the researcher in the course of this research.
