ABSTRACT

The modern technology have brought about the use of computer system in all areas of our human endeavors, in Nigeria and other African Countries workers sees this as an attempt to replace them and not to result them into mass retrenchment or loss their job. They always believe that where computers are installed will require less human effort to perform the desired operation. The problem of this study can be stated as; does the computer effectively assist in the banking sector? The instrument the researcher used is “Structured or closed type questionnaire” this availed the research the opportunity of meeting the respondents one-on-one for collection of detailed data and statistical figures for the research. Computer in the commercial and industrial settings have been around for several decade, nothing new about that. What is new is the availability of computing power at modest cost to managers and workers throughout business, organization and banking sectors. In conclusion, the effect of computerization leads to high performance of commercial banks. Performances here are indicated as per the amount of time used in transacting business with the bank, accurate calculation, job satisfaction and overall high performances and profit turn over. Electricity power supply and telecommunication are the major factors responsible for insufficient and unrealistic electronic banking in Nigeria.
