INFLUENCE OF WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE TELEVISION PROGRAMME ON SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR STUDENTS

Abstract

Education has beyond the four well of the classroom with audio-visual nature of television which capable of instructing, educating and enlightening the public on virtually on all subjects from English, to mathematics, science technology and even current affairs. It is against this background that the research examines the influence of WWTBM the study examined the Influence of “Who wants to be to Millionaire” television programme on social behaviour of Students of Osun State University. Mass media especially television has been a major agent of socialization and education in society through some edutainment programmes like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Brain Test, Quiz T.V, Debate and many more. However, survey research method was employed while 120 copies of questionnaires were administered to 120 respondents who were drawn using simple random sampling technique. At least more than 90% of respondents watch who Wants to be a Millionaire TV show most from NTA, STV and AIT. Also, 50% of the respondents have been watching Who wants to be a millionaire TV show between 4-6 years. It was recommended that television stations as matter of fact should create more decent edutainment programmes that will continue to promote the educational values of Nigeria.
