Abstract of The Global Impact Of Coronavirus On Education
The global lockdown of education institutions has caused major interruption in students’ learning; disruptions in internal assessments; and the education system and curriculum. This study is intended to examine the global impact of coronavirus on education. This study was guided by the following objectives; to evaluate the awareness of coronavirus among students, to examine the impact of coronavirus on education and to evaluate the after effect of coronavirus pandemic on global education system. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 100 residents of selected secondary schools in Lagos, Nigeria. The study findings revealed that coronavirus pandemic has significant impact on global education; based on the findings from the study, schools need resources to rebuild the loss in learning during the pandemic and for new graduates, policies should support their entry to the labour market to avoid longer unemployment periods.
