ABSTRACT
In this work of the role of consumer cooperative their economic development the major concern of the research is to present the role of consumer cooperative as a factor for the study of economic development of Nigeria. It as been discovered that cooperative has played a vital role in the economic development that it has been a catalpa in the economic upgrading of our nation. Also it was discovered that consumer cooperatives is like every other business organization which aims at satisfying the needs of the people. Although consumer cooperative has created much impact in the economic development of Nigeria there are certain constraints that obstructed smooth operation. Thus at chapter five of this work the researcher put up possible measures to arrest these problems.
